Kenneth (Ken) E. Bishop, age 87, of Burlington, Colorado passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Kit Carson Memorial Hospital. Kenneth was born August 2, 1930 to Kenneth Eugene and Mildred (Hunnicutt) Bishop in Logan, New Mexico.
Ken grew up and went to grade school in Logan, NM and in Texas and then attended high school in Burlington and graduated in 1948. He went to college in Colorado Springs. He served in the Army for more than 20 years. On October 6, 1984 he married Margie (Durham) in El Paso, Texas. For many years Ken owned and operated the lumber yard in Burlington, in the 80’s he sold the lumber yard and became a bail bondsman and bounty hunter. Ken attended the Burlington Assembly of God and you could always find him at the local Burger King having coffee with his friends; he enjoyed people and loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Analee Gonya.
Ken is survived by his wife, Margie of Burlington, CO; daughter, Carol Tatkenhorst of Burlington, CO; son, Paul (Lana) Bishop; daughter, Bonita (Kevin) Knox; son, Bill (Kathy) Bishop; stepson, Bud (Kimmy) Young of Stratton, CO; stepson, Arlie (Carol) Bryant of Paradise, TX; brother, Donald (Phyllis) Bishop of Westcliff, CO; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. MT, at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street in Goodland.
