Larry Norman Harper

August 5, 1944 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old


Larry N. Harper, 73, of Goodland passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center.  He was born August 5, 1944, to Norman and Mary Harper in Scott City, Kansas.  Larry attended Manning Grade School and graduated from Scott City High School.  After high school he attended Fort Hays State University and then he attended the first Farm and Diesel Class offered at the Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland. 

Larry was a truck driver for 50 plus years, he talked about retiring and never did.  He was in the United States Army Reserves.  He enjoyed fossil digging and sales, and recently knapping arrowheads. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; and wives Linda (Owens) Harper and Judy (Peck) Harper. 

He is survived by his daughter Paige Harper and Roy Elder of Goodland, KS; stepson Jake Reis and Leslie of Goodland, KS; stepson Mathew Reis and Rebecca of Goodland, KS; stepdaughter Sharon Mabry and Bryon of Ewing, KY; sister Mariel Weigers and Dave of Goodland, KS; grandchildren, Grason, Liam, Malachi, Xaver, Phoenix, Ian and a half; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held later.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the local High Plains Roosters Chapter #663 of Pheasants Forever or to the FHSU Sternberg Museum of Natural History and may be mailed to Bateman Funeral Home, P.O.
