Carl Wesley McCracken

Carl Wesley McCracken, age 64, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Carl was born February 21, 1961 to John William and Betty Jean (Nation) McCracken in Olathe, Colorado. He grew up in Olathe, Colorado, and went to high school in Tushka, Oklahoma. Carl moved to Goodland in 1994, where he started his family. He left the drill rigs to start working as a trucker, hauling feed across America. Later in life he rented land and began his dream of becoming a farmer. Carl McCracken farmed, lived, and died on his land and at the end of the day that's all he ever wanted.

Those who knew Carl knew him as an onery and hard working man. He loved a good game of poker and tinkering on whatever was broke down in his shop. When he wasn't watching westerns, he could often be found outside with a cold beer and good company, just shooting the breeze.

Preceding him in death are his parents and grandparents. Carl is survived by his daughter, Carly (Chris Jacobs) of Kansas City, MO; sisters Darlene (Danny) Moss of Vici, OK and Cindy (Jimmy) Mullins of Aloka, OK; brothers Eddie (Denise) of Montrose, Colorado and Glen (Diane) of Olathe, Colorado; and many more family members and friends.

Memorial service will be Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. MT at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street, Goodland. Private inurnment at a later date.
