Estella May Austin

Estella May Austin, age 85, of Goodland passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center.  Estella was born May 17, 1932, to Michael and Martha (Fink) Borman in Berryton, Kansas.

Estella was the second to the youngest child in her family of four brothers and six sisters.  She grew up and attended school in Bird City, KS.  She fell in love with Richard Austin, they were married on her 19th birthday, May 17, 1951 in St. Francis, KS.  Three children were born, Douglas Richard, Gayleen Ann, Relda Ruth.  Stella worked hard along side of Richard on their farm, she could do most anything from fixing fence to caring for her animals.  She loved playing bingo, attending auctions and yard sales.

Estella is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; brothers, Jacob, Henry, Leroy and Edwin; sisters, Esther, Helen, Frieda and Gertrude; and grandson, Christopher Austin.

She is survived by her son, Doug of Goodland, KS; daughter, Gayleen (Danny) Thompson of Paola, KS; Relda Headley of Lamar, CO; daughter-in-law, Paula Austin of St. Francis, KS; sister, Martha Anderson of Atwood, KS; sister, Ruth Nation of Atwood, KS; grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. MT, at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street in Goodland, with interment following the service at the Bird City Cemetery.  Memorials will be designated later and may be left at the services or mailed to Bateman Funeral Home, P.O.
