George O. Schmidt

George O. Schmidt, age 73, lifelong Sherman county resident died Friday, May 12, 2017 in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born March 3, 1944 in Burlington, Colorado to Mathew and Pearl Helen Schmidt.  He was one of nine children.

George graduated from the Kanorado School and farmed and ranched in Kanorado for many years.  He loved his dog Buddy dearly, they spent many hours together sleeping and watching television and reading western novels in his chair together.  They lived together and died together.

Preceding him in in death are his parents, brothers Paul, Robert, Eddie, Ray (Dutch) and sisters Jean, Helen, Elizabeth and Joan.

Survivors include his children Kevin (Susan) Schmidt of Brewster, KS; Denise (Mike) Liby of Abilene, KS; Erik of Tullahoma, TN; and Carl, Sue and Carly McCracken of Goodland.

Services will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. MT at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street, Goodland.  Burial will follow in the Kanorado Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 5  to 7 p.m. MT at the funeral home.
