Jody Lynn Walker, age 72, of Goodland, Kansas, fell asleep in death on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Goodland Regional Medical Center, surrounded by love.
Born in Denver, Colorado, to Jack and Jeanne (Milner) Norwood, Jody grew up in Denver and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. On January 15, 1972, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Walker, in Brighton, Colorado. Together, they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Anita, and built a life full of love, laughter, and faith. After living in Burlington for several years, they settled in Goodland in 1981, where they made their home.
Jody’s life was defined by her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and by the kindness and warmth she shared with others. She dedicated much of her time as a volunteer Bible teacher, and she touched many hearts through her gentle spirit. At home, she found joy in gardening, baking, and sewing—but most of all, in being with her family and friends. She especially loved the mountains and treasured family trips to Steamboat Springs, where some of her happiest memories were made.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bill; daughters Jennifer & Anthony Donovan of Littleton, Colorado, and Anita & Keith Duncan of Fruita, Colorado; her sister Jan & Kenneth Philbrook of Tecate, Mexico; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Her family finds comfort in God’s promises: “There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous” (Acts 24:15), and “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4). These assurances give them the hope of welcoming Jody back in the future and seeing her beautiful smile once again.
A memorial service will be Sunday, September 28 at 4 p.m. MT at the Kingdom hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 808 Wyoming St, Goodland Kansas (Zoom option: Meeting ID 7705952236 Password 8318). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jody Walker Memorial Fund and may be left at the service or sent in care of Bateman Funeral Home, PO Box 278, Goodland, KS 67735.
