Michael John Parsons, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on April 13, 2026, in Lone Tree, Colorado, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born on February 13, 1966, in Goodland, Kansas, Mike’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for his family.
Mike graduated from Goodland High School as part of the class of 1986, where he was known not only for his academic achievements but also for his dedication as a cross country runner. He furthered his education at Northwest Kansas Technical College, earning a degree in Communications Technology in 1988. His professional journey led him to Denver, where he devoted many years working for Comcast as a Fiber Line Supervisor. When health challenges required a change, Mike transitioned to work in security until his lung sickness necessitated a pause from his career.
Those who knew Mike remember him as a man with a big heart and infectious sense of humor. He never met a stranger, always ready to engage with anyone he encountered, embodying a warmth that welcomed all. Above all, Mike fiercely loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them and his friends. He particularly enjoyed riding his motorcycle, finding freedom and joy on the open road, and cherished quality time with his loved ones.
Mike was immensely proud of his son, Michael Anthony, and treasured the role of being a grandfather to Leah and Ares. His surviving family includes Michael Anthony and his wife Liliana of Loveland, Colorado; his sister Deidra Mitchek of Lake Havasu, Arizona; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who held him dear. Though his parents, Pamela (Klassen) Parsons and Darrell Parsons, his brother Trevor Shaun Parsons and nephew Trevor Seth Parsons, and his grandparents Deitrich and Esther Klassen and Theda and Hugh Parsons, have passed on, their memories live on in Mike's heart and the stories shared by those who loved them.
A celebration of Mike’s life will take place at Bateman Funeral Home, located at 211 E 11th St, Goodland, Kansas, on June 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It will be a time for all who loved him to come together, reflect on his generous spirit, and honor a life well lived.
Michael John Parsons leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and laughter—a true reminder of the power of love and connection. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know him. Information and condolences www.batemanfuneral.com
