Patricia A. (Renkema) Graves

Patricia A Graves, 79, formerly of Goodland, passed away June 15, 2024, at The Legacy of Herington, Herington, KS

Pat was born March 31st, 1945, to Herman and Betty Renkema. She graduated from Forreston IL High School in 1964. After moving to Kansas, she attended Dodge City Community College, where she received her LPN degree in 1967. She worked as a nurse at Boothroy Hospital, the new hospital, Medical Arts clinic for Dr's Lawrence Bare and Kenneth Austin,  Goodland Good Samaritan Center as Director of Nursing, and Wheatridge in Goodland.

Pat was united in marriage to J Darel Graves on July 24, 1971, in Goodland, where they raised their 3 children, Robert, Reita, and Robin, whom Pat legally adopted. Pat and J Darel shared almost 40 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.

Pat enjoyed crocheting, Christmas, camping as a family, entertaining, Elvis,  Gaither music, was an accomplished pianist, which she played by ear and in her last few years she learned to like football.  She instilled a good work ethic and punctuality, and that it's ok to eat cake for breakfast!

She is survived by her son Robert and wife Donna Graves of Herington KS, daughter Reita Rice of Ottawa KS, daughter Robin and husband Geoff Kuhn of Hays, KS, granddaughter Cricket Rice of Hays, KS, grandson Jason Kuhn of Pueblo, CO, 3 great grandchildren and numerous  nieces, nephews, and good friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband J Darel, and her sister Gene.

Memorial service will be Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1 p.m. MT at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street, Goodland.
