Rae "Michelle" (Duell) Seeber

Rae Michelle Seeber passed away Saturday morning, March 13, 2021 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas.

She was born November 5, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois to A. Theodore and Virginia (Burk) Duell.

Michelle graduated from High School in Hill City, Kansas.  She graduated from Kansas State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism.  She began her journalism career at the Hays Daily News as a college student.  Her early full-time career at the Manhattan Mercury was followed by a move to the Virgin Islands.  In the Islands she was a news reporter for WBNB-TV, Channel 10, St. Thomas, reporting on the Legislature of the Virgin Islands.  She rose to the position of Chief Reporter on the Island of St. Thomas.  She covered territorial Senate and Governor as well as a number of executive branch agencies.  As a contributor to morning and evening event newscasts she was viewed as a trusted reporter of Virgin Island events with a good sense for news.

After returning to the States, Michelle pursued her career in the St. Louis, Missouri area for many years. While there she reported for UPI until the bureau closed in St. Louis.  She furthered her career in the metropolitan area as copy editor, adjunct professor, and freelance writer.  Michelle’s closing career contributions were for community news publications in the Oklahoma panhandle and central Kansas.  Through The Navigator’s Christian organization in St. Louis, Michelle met life-long friends.  She pursued church and Bible study interests throughout her remaining life.  She enjoyed greeting and meeting people.  Michelle’s pets developed complimentary personalities with devotion and protective care for their master.

She was preceded in death by her father; and sister, Cheryl Helget.

Rae Michelle is survived by her mother; sister, Ramona (William) Bock; brother, Alan (Susan) Duell; brother-in-law, John Helget; seven nieces and nephews; eight great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles and many more family and friends.
