Ruth Irene (Blystone) Nichols

Ruth Irene Nichols, age 81, of Kanorado, Kansas passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center.

Ruth was born July 20, 1943 to Emmett L. and Dorothy (Freeman) Blystone in Goodland, Kansas. She grew up in Kanorado and graduated in 1961. After high school Ruth attended Hays College and studied business.

Ruth was a housewife and farmer. She loved working outside on the farm and with animals, showing compassion and concern for them. She was especially fond of baby animals, oftentimes bringing them into warm shelter on winter nights and bottle feeding them. She was a member of the Kanorado Methodist Church and also enjoyed participating in the Kanorado Co-op meetings.  She encouraged all of her kids to finish their education and to work hard for their goals. She had a kind heart, loved her grandkids very much, and always wished them the best.

Ruth is survived by her children Kevin (Susan) Schmidt of Brewster, KS, Denise (Mike) Liby of Abilene, KS and Erik Schmidt of Madison, AL; seven grandchildren and many more family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Edna Golemboski, Mary Blystone and Joyce Blystone.

Memorial service will be Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. MT at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street, Goodland.
