Carol Kay (Dizmang) Musil

Carol K. Musil, age 81, passed away November 1, 2022 at Haysmed with her granddaughters Jamie and Amanda by her side. Carol was born May 25, 1941 to Henry and Gladys (Akers) Dizmang in Goodland. 

Katie’s parents passed away at a young age, her older siblings raised the younger ones as their own, allowing the 12 siblings to remain close. Katie grew up in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School in 1960. 

On February 11, 1959, Katie married Ronnie Dee Musil in Goodland. To this union Julie Kay, Ronnie Lester and John Dee were born. 

Carol worked for many years as a housekeeper for a few elderly people, she also helped her niece Pat Kirby at Pat's daycare.  She was head housekeeper at the original Comfort Inn for several years.

Katie loved hosting card parties, many wedding and baby showers for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to various activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She traveled with her daughter Julie on a genealogical trip to eastern Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas to learn more about her Dizmang roots where they were able to meet several cousins that Katie had never known. She enjoyed many adventures with her sister-in-law Dorothy, niece Tina (Musil) Hanson and Julie for Black Friday weekends in Colorado and their annual Christmas cookie baking.

She was honored to be with her granddaughter Jamie during the birth of 3 of her great-grandchildren. Although Carol loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her great-granddaughter Kayden and Carol shared a special bond from the moment of Kayden's birth. Katie loved her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

Carol began collecting angels shortly after the loss of her son John and loved collecting a wide variety of them over the years, now she is our special angel.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ronnie of 63 years; daughter, Julie (Jim) McCauley of Goodland; daughter-in-law, Alison (DeVader-Musil) Jacobson of Burlington, CO;

grandchildren: Zack (Denise) Musil, Jamie (David) Proctor, Amanda (Tyler) Marcotte, Malaree Jacobson, Mirannda (Ethan) Kurtzer, Chelsea (Chad) Carlin, Jessica (Nathaniel)) Macbeth, Tyrel, Clayton and Cody Jacobson, Gregory Jr, Christopher Unruh, Daniel Musil, Jami Musil and Dusty (Sandy) Musil; 20 great-grandchildren with 1 more due the first of 2023; sister, Darlene Kirby; brothers, Raymond *Dick* (Nancy) Dizmang, Darold (Carolyn) Dizmang and Rex *Duane* (Twila) Dizmang; sister-in-law, Pat Dizmang; brother-in-laws, Melvin and Dennis Musil; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a many more family and friends who will all miss her. 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Ronnie and John Musil; brothers, Harold *Sam* (Lois) Dizmang, Carl Dizmang, and Lyle Dizmang; sisters, Mildred (Jack) Laughlin, Irene (Harold) Johnson, Vera (Joe) Lynn, Hazel (Dean) Morton; sister-in-laws, Dorothy, Rebecca and Yvonne; brother-in-law Marlin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial donations be made to Carol ‘Katie” Musil Memorial Fund and be sent in care of Bateman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 278, Goodland, Kansas.
