Obituary
Illa Jean Parker, age 79, of Goodland passed away September 4, 2023 at Haysmed in Hays, Kansas.
She was born January 6, 1944 to Jake and Ada Lucille (Moon) VanDonge in Goodland. She grew up and went to school in Edson and graduated from Edson School in 1962. On September 2, 1962 she married Richard Lee Parker in Leoti. Illa and husband Lee began their married life living and working on the Parker Ranch, then to the T-Bar Ranch where they have worked for 34 years. Illa also worked as a bookkeeper for McClelland Motorcycle Shop and at the Moose Lodge as bookkeeper and bartender. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Goodland. Illa enjoyed gardening, reading, and most of all spending time with her family and friends. Illa was a great cook, the ranch workers and truck drivers looked forward to her treats and she enjoyed sharing her recipes with her nieces and nephews.
Illa was the glue that kept her family together, she loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, she accepted everyone.
Illa is survived by her husband Lee of Goodland; brothers Jerry (Cindy) VanDonge of Texhoma, OK and Jhan (Deda) VanDonge of Burkburnett, TX; and many more family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Milo JoAnne VanDonge.
