Marie Louise Hurst

Marie Louise Hurst, age 70, of Goodland passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at her home. 

Marie was born February 17, 1952 to Joseph C. and Sylvia L. (Biggs) Hurst in Goodland, Kansas. She grew up and went to school in Goodland. Marie participated in SALS, gymnastics and graduated valedictorian from Goodland High School in 1970. After high school she attended a year at Kansas State University, then transferred to City University of New York.  Marie worked as a nanny, office work at many different businesses and a Certified Nurses Assistant. She returned to Goodland and worked at Great Western Sugar Beet Factory, USD 352 as a para, Beverly Enterprise, Barger and Company and Goodland Activities Center. In 1990 her son, Toby was born, and she became a stay-at-home mother.  When he got older, she worked at the Holiday Inn Express as a night auditor and later worked as a housekeeper for many individuals in the Goodland community. Marie was a loving mother and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Loretta Pearce; brother, Eldon; brothers-in-law, Louis Aguilar, James Bess and John Galen Smith; and nephew, Espiririon Aguilar. 

Marie is survived by her son, Toby Hurst of Pine, Colorado; 8 siblings: Betty Smith of Waukomis, OK; Tom (Kim) Hurst of Denver, CO; Neal (Phylis) Hurst of Phoenix, AZ; Bertha Aguilar of Goodland, KS; Harry Hurst of Goodland, KS; Arthur (Cindy) Hurst of Colorado Springs, CO; Ruth (Abel) Ontiveroz of Goodland, KS; Mary Ann Bess of Goodland, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
