Scott Miller Obituary

Scott Alan Miller, 50, of Sharon Springs, Kansas, passed away suddenly Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas.

Scott was born June 14, 1970 to Kenneth and Patricia (Pancake) Miller in Tribune, Kansas. He grew up in Sharon Springs and graduated from Wallace County High School in 1988. He attended Fort Hays State University where he studied civil engineering but decided to pursue drafting instead. He then attended Northwest Kansas Technical College and received his associate’s degree in Drafting. He still wasn’t content with the career path he chose, so Scott decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and continued in the family business in the community that he grew up in and so dearly loved. Scott learned at a very young age the importance of family. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, and cousin, who would help anyone in a time of need. Scott met the love of his life, Katrina Black, and they married August 16, 2002. He was a very dedicated husband, father, and Pa to his wife, kids and grandkids who meant the world to him.

Scott wore many hats within the community. He managed Miller’s Food Store in Sharon Springs. He was the President of the Wallace County Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer on the Wallace County Fire Department, and was the City of Sharon Springs Fire Chief. Scott served as a Wallace County EMT and loved helping others. He was proud to be the first to receive the Sharon Springs Volunteer award. He always enjoyed working on vehicles, watching NASCAR with his daughters, watching their ball games, being Pa to his grandkids and just dearly loved spending time with his family and friends. Scott showed his love for people by not only his actions, but also by his playful greetings.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill Pancake, and Ralph and Gladys Miller; and father-in-law, Dr. Virgil E McWilliams.

Scott is survived by his wife, Katrina of Sharon Springs; daughters, Heather Shirk of Garden City, KS, Haley (Kenneth) Sabourin of Holcomb, KS and Kendalynn, and KyLynn of Sharon Springs; parents, Kenny and Patsy Miller of Sharon Springs; sisters, Carrie (Mark) Paul of Ulysses, KS; JoAnna (Don) Basgall of Sharon Springs, KS; Tricia (David) Moore of Goddard, KS; grandchildren, Bransen, Conner, Annika, Paisyn, and Kennedy; grandmother, Ellen Pancake; mother-in-law, Margaret McWilliams; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins along with other extend family and friends.
